Richard Dow tragically passed away on the 15th of September 1988 at the age of 18. If anyone has additional details or pictures of Richard, please e-mail them to admin@chsclassof89.com.
What I remember most about Richard was us being in classes together, especially math..and passing notes back and forth instead of paying attention. He was the greatest guy.
It took me years to be able to instantly remember Richard's name. Not because I didn't know him, but because we lost him so trageically and suddenly. I often think of Richard.I never would have passed math had it not been for him! I miss him a lot.
My father, Dr. Ken Altom, officiated Richard Dow's funeral. I recall that Richard's aunt was a member of our church, First Baptist Church of Cookeville, or otherwise affliated with it. I recall my Dad step quietly to each and every row of the packed sanctuary and spoke softly to those who attended Richard's funeral. Richard's death is a tragedy. That day, I saw my father caring for everyone he encounterd. May the Dow family and Richard's friends continue to experience the peace and joy that the entire City of Cookeville tried to bring to them on that day.
