COOKEVILLE Funeral services for Windell Lee Flatt, 69, of Cookeville will be held Saturday, June 12, from the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Burial will be in Crest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4-9 p.m. today, June 11.
Mr. Flatt died June 10, 2004, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center.
Born Dec. 2, 1934, in Jackson County, he was the son of the late Sewell Isaac and Ruby Lee Roberts Flatt.
He was a retired biology teacher at Cookeville High School, serving 36 years. He was a past member of Putnam County Teachers Association, National Education Association and Tennessee Education Association. He was a member of Holladay Church of Christ.
His family includes his wife of 34 years, Bette Smith Flatt of Cookeville; a son John Lee Flatt of Cookeville; a sister Linda Wilmoth of Cookeville; three brothers, James H. Flatt of Cookeville, Billy L. Flatt of Bloomington Springs, Ronnie W. Flatt of Rickman; brother and sisterinlaw Frank and Susan Crowder of Knoxville; two granddaughters, Hannah Noel and Amber Nicole Flatt.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth Eugene Flatt. Pallbearers will be David and Jeff Smith, John Lane, Chris and Chad Flatt and William Sherrill.
